Next Generation Sequencing and Cytopathology: The Future is Now
Cory Bernardt, MD, PhD
Presentation Date: May 27, 2014; Expires: May 27, 2017
Molecular testing of cancer is increasingly critical to medicine. The development of targeted therapeutics has brought the concept of personalized medicine to the forefront. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) is proving to be a powerful tool for identifying diverse genetic mutations across numerous genes. Cytology specimens, particularly fine needle aspirations, are typically the first, and often the only, specimen available for diagnosis and ancillary testing. This webinar will introduce NGS, and describe how cytology specimens can be utilized for NGS to improve patient care.
